DISNEYWORLD!!

The weekend after Kent and I got to Georgia, we went to the Walt Disney World resort for a few days! We stayed in the Disney Port Orleans Riverside resort- which was pretty nice! We also went miniature golfing to both of the Disney World courses- both of which were really fun, though my mini golfing skills are pretty lacking! AND, of course, we went to the Magic Kingdom for one magnificent day and rode every ride that we wanted to- including my favorite: Splash Mountain! We saw Captain Jack Sparrow, went to the crazy Tiki Room, tried on fun Disney hats, and got POURED on for a few hours! But that didn't ruin the day! We still had a great time being kids again!

Fairbanks, AK!

My Dad came to visit us for a weekend near the end of June (right before we moved)and took us to Fairbanks! The drive took many hours, but it was worth it! We saw spectacular scenery along the way- especially as we passed Denali National Park, wandered around the city of Talkeetna, rode a train to an old gold mine and learned the addictive and fun art of gold panning, stopped in at the North Pole and saw AMAZING, beautiful Christmas decorations (but we missed seeing Santa!), rode on a riverboat and saw an Iditarod sled dog team and visited a native Alaskan indian village, and had an old-fashioned picture taken of us in a park! It was a lot of fun and a nice farewell to the Last Frontier!

Our final adventures in Alaska......

Before Kent and I left Alaska, we tried to do and see as many things as we could! We went on a grueling hike to the top of Flat Top Mountain. It was only three miles, but we had to climb up many, many, MANY steep rocks to get to the top! It was worth it, but man, it was tough! Enjoy the very cheesy picture of me on my way DOWN from the mountain! We also went to the Alaskan Conservation Center, where we met VERY friendly bears, moose, and elk. My personal favorite picture is of the black bear laying spread eagle on the ground! Silly nilly willy old bear! (note the reference to the immortal Winnie the Pooh!)
